Sending You Sunshine and Smiles

Hi, everyone! What in the world have you been working on this week? Did you know there is an Anything Goes Linky Party going on right now at PDE Linky Party? Have you linked up your latest projects yet? Remember, you can link up as often as you want as long as they are current projects you are working on and not things posted to your blog in the past. Come show us what's going on in your craft room. We love getting inspired by your creations.

This morning I started out thinking I was going to create a July 4th Project, but the papers weren't working out, so I went through some old 12x12 stacks and found Fiesta by DCWV. I had forgotten how pretty these papers were. I love how my project turned out even though it's not July 4th themed.

  • DCWV Fiesta papers
  • Sil ID# 84555
  • Twine! Buttons!
  • Cardz TV Stamps - Summer Fun set

Thanks for stopping by to check on me. I love your visits! See you tomorrow!

Sweet Summer

Are you having a fun weekend? I hope so! Here's a Sweet Summer Tag to help cool you off with some refreshing watermelon. Mmmmm

  • Tag Base - Sil ID# 78355 (I created some shadows for 2 different size tags and combined them all together for the tag base. There is foam tape between the smaller tag and larger tag for dimension.)
  • Frog - Sil ID# 84018 (This frog is a print 'n' cut, and I created a shadow layer for it to in order to help it pop out from the busy flower background. It is also adhered with foam tape for dimension.)
  • Sentiment Banner - Sil ID# 33147
  • Cardz TV Stamps - Fun in the Sun stamp set
If you visit me on Facebook, you know I love me some watermelon! My hubby, Tom, stopped at the store on the way home from work on Thursday and brought me home a watermelon and a cantaloupe. Smells so good to cut open a fresh, ripe watermelon.

Tom had perfect timing because I had just taken this chocolate chip cookies out of the oven about 2 minutes before he walked in the door.

Thanks for visiting with me today! Don't forget to link up your projects over at PDE Linky Party! The theme is Anything Goes this week.

See you next time!

Weight Watchers Wednesday

If you'd like to join me in Weight Watchers, please use this link.

Hi! Good news today! Nope, haven't reached that 30 pounds forever gone yet - it's being so elusive, but I did have a good weigh in on Monday. Lost -1.4 (everything I gained the week before plus a little more). Total loss since last week of January this year is..... wait for it...... 29 pounds! Woo-Hoo!

I can tell you that so far this week, the scale is going up and down. What is going on? I have no idea, but it's getting harder to lose a little weight.

No worries though, my wonderful, fabulous, love-him-to-death husband brought my treadmill out of the exercise room and parked it behind the couch in the downstairs den. The TV is directly in front of it. Now I can walk and get distracted by whatever is on TV.  I likey! My hubby is so good to me!

Short post today. Keep drinking your water every day - so easy to get dehydrated in this triple digit heat! Oh my gosh. It's HOT outside! Move a little or a lot, just MOVE. And remember, if you BITE IT, WRITE IT! Keep a log of your points so you don't get any nasty surprises on weigh-in day.

Keep on keepin' on. See you next Wednesday. I'm hoping all of us have a fantastic WOWZER weigh-in day next week. But even if we don't, you know I still love ya no matter what.

Don't give up!
:) Janis

Look at this..... think only losing 5 lbs of fat is nothing? I'd say it's a BIG deal!!

Been There; Done That - Project Life Srapbook Page

Before I get to my project to show you today, I want you all to know that PDE Linky Party is coming back! For all of you who were sad that it was taking a break, get your creative juices flowing, because we are coming back starting this FRIDAY (June 26) with an ANYTHING GOES link up with a new link up every single Friday. Be sure to visit PDE Linky Party for the announcement and DT CALL going on now.

Now, onto my project for today.......
I thought it would be really fun to create a scrapbook page (Project Life style) with a 'BEEN THERE; DONE THAT' theme.

So far we've moved 21 times in nearing 29 years of marriage this August. WOW! We love change. Love an adventure. Love going places we've only heard about and checking it out for ourselves. It's a standing joke with our family and friends that we must be in the Witness Protection Program. LOL Sometimes people ask if we are in the military. Nope. Just love a good adventure.

When Tom & I built our first house in 1988 (the second year of our marriage, and the year our first baby was due), I remember telling Tom I was excited about building our own house, but a little sad to think we'd never move again ever and go to all those places we'd love to see. Tom told me that we would still travel, move, and go wherever we wanted to go. He has kept his word! We've lived in Alaska (twice!), Georgia, South Carolina, and Texas. These are just the places we've LIVED. Doesn't even include the places we've visited, vacationed, etc. I can't tell you how many states we've driven through, but it's been a LOT! One place we haven't been to yet that I would LOVE to visit is Maine. For some reason I really want to go on a Lighthouse tour there. I bet it's beautiful.

Thanks for stopping by!

Mini Card Gift Set

Our internet was out for a few days last week which made me get creative to use something I already had and create without my die cutting machine. I love the results!

I looked through my drawer of print-n-cuts I already had ready to go and chose the 3 little Oriental ladies.

Then I searched through my sequins and charms stash and picked out some fun embellishments for each girl.

I cut white cardstock 8" x 4" and scored at 4" for a 4" x 4" mini card.

The pattern paper was cut at 3" x 3" and the smaller embossed white cardstock at 2 1/2" x 2 1/2". I used 2 embossing folders and my Cuttlebug adhering the layers with foam tape for dimension.

Then I grabbed my We R Memory Keepers envelope maker board to create some mini envelopes. (I still love that board! It just doesn't get old.)

A Fiskars punch was used on the card edge and a strip of matching pattern paper added to the inside so that the border would pop.

The package for the gift set is actually a recycled sack I received an order in. I created a decorative mini mat for the front of the sack using the same technique for the front of the cards, but this time incorporating all 3 of the pattern papers onto one mat. A large button and crinkle ribbon was added to highlight the sentiment strip. I used my square punch to flag the end of that sentiment strip.

All of the sentiments came from Cardz TV Stamps various stamp sets.  If you'd like to re-create something similar to this, here are the items I used for easy reference:

  • Pink Oriental Girl:
    • Sil ID# 7156
    • Cardz TV Stamps - It's All About You
    • Ink - SU Strawberry Slush
  • Orange Oriental Girl:
    • Sil ID# 7150
    • Cardz TV Stamps - Just Saying
    • Ink - SU Pumpkin Pie
  • Green Oriental Girl:
    • Sil ID# 7149
    • Cardz TV Stamps - Mixed Messages
    • Ink - SU Pear Pizzazz
  • Sack Cover:
    • Cardz TV Stamps - Mixed Messages
    • Ink - SU Pear Pizzazz
Voila! Love it. Hope the person I give it to loves it too!

See you next time,
:) Janis

Weight Watchers Wednesday

Welcome to a brand new week. At this time next week, what would you like the scale to say?

This past week was challenging - every. single. day.  I had a couple of days of headaches and pampered myself with chocolate chip cookies (never a good idea). I had several days of just feeling exhausted and wanting to sleep. AND I had some woman issues going on which always manages to screw up my weight. Sigh. It's fine. It's all good. Weight Watchers does not yell at me or tell me what a disappointment I am or give me guilt.  In fact, no matter what my weigh-in day looks like, WW always seems to boost my spirits.

Monday's weigh-in day showed a gain of +1.2 pounds.  This is what WW had to say to me when I recorded my weigh-in...

So, you gained a little bit this week.
Gaining is a normal part of the process and can happen for a lot of reasons.
Look back at this week and see what you might be able to change;
then let go of what you can't.
The best thing to do is focus on is making this coming week a success.

Yep, I love WW!

Enjoy your week. For everyone out there who had a week like I did - Hang in there! Don't let a little set-back steal your joy. You've come so far, and I'm proud of you.

If you'd like to join me in Weight Watchers, please use this link.

Until next Wednesday,
:) Janis

Cricut Make-It-Now Bike Card

Happy Saturday! Hope you all have a good weekend. We are going to the Apple Store this morning, and I'm sure playing around in the afternoon. I'm ready to just hang out with the family a little bit.

Today I have a Cricut Make-It-Now card to show you. I love that section in Cricut Design Space. It's nice that some talented people designed some cards, and then shared how to re-create them with us in the Make-It-Now section. Brilliant idea!

  • Cricut Make-It-Now Bicycle & Butterflies card
    • This card did NOT come with the butterfly cuts. I searched for one in the Cricut image library and cut it out in 2 different sizes with one in pattern paper. I inked around the edges and added some tiny clear rhinestones to their bodies. Adhered them with glue dots and folded up the wings a bit.
  • Large blue rhinestones added to clouds
  • Bicycle basket inked around the edges and cut out with pattern paper.

  • Cardz TV Stamps - Just Saying for sentiment stamp
  • Added another butterfly to the inside as well
Fun!
See you next time.
:) Janis
